Chorus:
Am.......Dm...Em...........Am
take me home lone pine hill

I swear I see her in my dreams sometimes
Held up in the middle of the night
Shakin like a pistol in a young mans hand
There in the pale moonlight

Standin up the top of that lonely hill
Spared by the company mines
Is my blue eyed baby with her best dress on
In the shadow of a lonely pine

I'll be back before the war
When the company came
They still grew wild and free
Me and baby we'd hide in the hollars low
Away from the cruel suns heat
But then they knocked down the timber
And burned off the brush
To get to the riches below
And when they pulled out
They left a cold black ground
And one pine standing lone

So take me home...
Lone pine hill

I signed up back in '61
I'm an army of a genuine man
I've been from Mannasas to Mackonackey
All the way to Sailors Creek fighting
For my home land

After 4 years gone and all hope lost
And rich mens under seige
They were diggin out fire holes
And waitin in the rain
To shed and they bring us to their knees

So take me home...
Lone pine hill

There's a strange moon hangin' overhead tonight
And if the rain keeps comin then the creek's gunna rise
With the good lords grace
I'll make it outta this place
I'll be in her arms come the morning light I swear...

So god grant me speed and grant me forgiveness
And carry me on through the night
Take me through the hills and over your rivers
Away from this awful fight

Cause I ain't never known a man that's never owned another
Ain't never owned nothin of my own
And after 4 long years I just can't tell you
What the hell I've been fighting for...

So take me home...
Lone pine hill
Take me home...
Lone pine hill

thanks greatbahen, it sounds right to me. tis a little tricky singing and playing this one.
i've added a link to your blog to mine.

i've been thinking about tabbing some stuff. do you want submissions?

As of right now I am not taking submissions but they may change in the future. I appreciate the interest.

Mostly right, but wrong in a couple of spots:
"I'll be back before the war" should be "It was back before the war"

"I'm an army of a genuine man" Should be "I'm an Army of Virginia man"

"And rich mens under seige" Should be "Richmond's under seige"

"They were diggin out fire holes
And waitin in the rain
To shed and they bring us to their knees" should be "we're digging out Five Forks and waiting in the rain for Sheridan to bring us to our knees"

yeah lyrics are a bit off. Its a song about the Civil War.

thanks for the post friend, I used this to figure out the song. but I think you're missing some stuff in here.

So I think the verses all basically go like the intro

Am hammer on the C, hammer on the G repeat.

you nailed the chorus, thanks. but then there's that weird part, lets call it the bridge

you go from the Am and ascend to a C, then to G then Am, repeat it a second time, then its Dm, G, C, descend to Am, then Dm Em

i'm not good at making it look like a tab, but hope that conveys it basically. wouldn't have been able to add that without your base work though, thanks a bunch!

I got somethin a little for the chord progression on the bridge ("well there's a strange moon hangin over head tonight...") is C-Am-C-Am-Dm-G-C-Am-Dm-Em-Am (and beginning the hammer on section again)
