Jason Isbell - Good

E
you better watch yourself this time

B
are you waiting in the wrong line

C#m....................................A
or cooking off a slow crime

E
I guess the devil wouldn't have you

B
but you're used to what you're used to

C#m
you always seemed to somehow

A.........................F#m
make it through I know

.................A
I let myself go again

...................E........................................B
I tried to lay low but it's real hard to be alone

..C#m..........................A
I know I never take my own advice

........................E
chase a couple rolling dice

................................B
somewhere I don't belong

..C#m............A
I can't myself be good

A
I wish I could

E.......................................................B
somewhere my conscience turned to petrified wood

C#m.....................A
I can't make myself do right

A
on Friday night

E....................................B
where all these shadows get bigger

..................C#m.........A
bigger every night

another night another rope burn
Well I guess that it was my turn
to wash a little pain down
maybe you were just a decoy
it doesn't matter much to me boys
covered up the voices that
I don't want to hear
I let myself go again
I tried to lay low but it's real hard to be alone
I know I never take my own advice
I get tired of playing nice
and I cut right to the bone

I can't myself be good
I wish I could
somewhere my conscience turned to petrified wood
I can't make myself do right
on Friday night
where all these shadows get bigger
bigger every night

..D#m............B
I can't myself be good

B
I wish I could

F#.......................................................C#
somewhere my conscience turned to petrified wood

D#m.....................B
I can't make myself do right

B
on Friday night

F#....................................C#
where all these shadows get bigger

..................D#m.........B
bigger every night

Aquarium Drunkard presents Jason Isbell and Justin Townes Earle this Thursday at Spaceland. I missed Earle in Austin last week, but have only heard great things about his performance…and I’m also a huge fan of his daddy.
